1. Tulipe.ca
A short drive from Montreal will take you to these 2 tulip farms, where 600,000 multicoloured tulips are waiting for you.
Wander through the colour-flooded fields, or pick your own bouquet. Either way, it’s the best spring photo backdrop you could ever ask for—and the ideal quick getaway in Quebec’s great outdoors.
Tulipes.ca have a Laval and Boucherville location, and have a few tips to share:
- To pick tulips, you simply have to hold the tulip by the stem as close to the ground as possible and pull
- Animals and food on the premises are prohibited
- Strollers are not permitted in the tulip fields
- The tulip fields are open 7 days a week, rain or shine
- Free parking is available at both locations, as will as portable toilets
- Buckets are available (water is not available)
2. Vankleek Hill Tulip Fields
Looking for more of a road trip? Check out Vankleek Hill in Eastern Ontario, where 3 acres of family-run pick-your-own tulip fields await.
Vankleek Hill also has some guidelines to take into consideration before you arrive:
- Dogs are not allowed on the premises as tulips can be poisonous to animals
- A bucket will be provided to collect the tulips, and will be filled with water before leaving. No tools required
- Portable restrooms are available and regularly maintained on site
- With the exception of water bottles, no food and drink are allowed. There is a terrace with seating where limited snacks and drinks are available for purchase
- Weekdays are less crowded than weekends, which can provide a more intimate experience
- The fields are open for business rain or shine
- Rain boots are recommended as the fields can be muddy
- Wheelchair access is available, but note that navigating the fields when they are muddy can be challenging
- Strollers are permitted on the perimeter of the field but not between the rows in order to prevent damage to both the stroller and the tulips
- Parking on site is very limited, however ample parking is available within a short walking distance in Vankleek Hill
